Bio
After playing guitar and keyboards in several bands around my home town, Madison, Wisconsin in the early '80's, I landed in a band called Emerald Choir as the bass player. The album was recorded at Smart Studios with help from Butch Vig and Steve Marker who would later go on to form Garbage.
Emerald Choir didn't last long but birthed the punk flavored Zappa-esk band, The Gomers, who became one of Madison's most beloved bands, putting on weekly themed shows and allowing audience members to sing songs of their choosing. The Gomers recorded 4 studio albums at Smart Studios.
In '91 I moved to New York City to pursue a career in comedy and ended up forming another band called Tuppy The Band as a one-off joke for a live show a friend was producing. Tuppy The Band kept getting asked to do more and more shows, and we kept writing and recording more songs until the untimely passing of drummer Beckly Roberts in 2015.
In the Spring of 2016 I was asked to play bass in a band that did cover songs and jumped at the chance to play music again. After several years we started writing our own material and renamed the band The Retro Fits. We spent much of 2022 recording bits and pieces of songs when we could. I finally finished mixing and producing the album in the summer of 2023 self titled The Retro Fits.
In Fall of 2023 I released a 5 song EP of cover songs I had started recording during the pandemic in 2020. I also released a year end single called The Thief in December of 2023. I continue to write and record from my apartment here in Brooklyn.
